A native of Washington State, Barbara grew up in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. My Story:

I was working at a print shop after college and just fell in love with paper. Every night I’d take scraps home and play. I began selling my work as note cards and through a few coincidences found national distribution. My handpainted greeting cards were sold in Museums, Galleries and Gift Shops. Now I sell those originals framed as original art and sell prints of the those as note cards, greeting cards, and matted or framed prints.

Over the years my media has expanded to include acrylic, watercolor, tempera and photography.

My Process:

Most of my current work for sale on this website is Enhanced Digital Photography. I found that inorder to capture my paintings as images so that they could be reproduced accurately and affordably, I had to learn how to take a good photograph of my original artwork and then edit it so that it looked as close to the real painting as possible. There is a lot that changes between the shutter and the computer and the printer. While working with that process I wondered what would happen if I applied those same techniques to my digital photos? I had fun with my new Canon Digital Rebel and created a lot of what I have now learned are called "Enhanced Digital Photographs." During test marketing at the Farmer's Market, I have learned that although it is sometimes confusing to folks on how the image was created, they enjoy those images as much as my paintings.
